Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah The Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has asked the Minority lawmakers to reject any body guard to be given to them by the government. In his view, the new guards have become a threat to the Members of Parliament (MPs). This follows the interdiction of the body of Madina MP, Francis-Xavier Sosu. Inspector Agbavor was cited for alleged misconduct, forming the reason for his interdiction. He is accused to have recklessly driven into a crowd after a protest on the Ayi Mensah-Danfa Road, endangering the lives of two senior officers and other civilians. The Parliamentary Protection Unit was tasked to assign a new guard to the first-time MP. Ex-COCOBOD CEO Stephen Opuni A legal practitioner, in a post-ruling analysis, has shredded the Supreme Court’s 4:3 decision that reinstated Justice Clemence Honyenuga on the GHS217-million financial loss case involving ex-COCOBOD CEO Stephen Opuni and businessman Seidu Agongo. It is recalled that the apex court, on Tuesday, 26 October 2021, overturned its earlier 3-2 majority ruling by which it prohibited Justice Honyenuga from continuing to hear the case. The ruling, delivered by Justice Jones Dotse, said Dr Opuni’s allegations of bias against Justice Honyenuga had no basis, thus, the trial could resume. Attorney General Godfred Dame, who filed the review application, welcomed the ruling. Two new judges: Justices Ashie Kotey and Gertrude Tokornoo, were added to the five-member ordinary panel by the Chief Justice for the review application. President Akufo-Addo Leaves For Cape Verde

President Akufo-Addo prepares to board the presidential jet for trip to Cape Verde President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo left Ghana on Monday for Praia, Cape Verde, to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the West African nation’s President-elect, Jose Maria Neves. The President is attending the ceremony in his capacity as the Chairperson of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Mr Neves, 61, a former Prime Minister who served from 2000 to 2016, won Cape Verde's presidential election held last October. President Akufo-Addo will return to Ghana on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. He was seen off at the airport by Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei Opare, some senior government officials and service chiefs.
